David Hill

Chairman, The Environment Bank

Professor David Hill CBE is chairman and founding owner of The Environment Bank which he set up in 2006 to bring the concept of biodiversity offsetting and biodiversity net gain to the UK. 

David has been instrumental in ensuring the concept is embedded in the government’s 25-year Environment Plan into planning law through the Environment Bill.

He is an advocate and promoter of environmental markets, including BNG via trades in conservation credits, as the main means by which nature recovery will take place across the UK. 

David has a doctorate in Ecology from the University of Oxford and is passionate conservationist and wildlife photographer.
