John O’Brien has been the Chair Designate of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Integrated Care System since November 2021.  He stepped down from his role as Chief Executive of London Councils after 14 years in April 2021.  In that role he worked closely with all London boroughs and London government more broadly, as well as with national partners across local and central government.  John was also previously Director of Local Government Performance and Practice in the former Department for Communities and Local Government and Acting Executive Director of the Improvement and Development Agency for Local Government.  He also spent a number of years working with KPMG in Government Consulting.  He began his career in local government working with both a district council and a London borough.
